National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst in our Syracuse, NY office

This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance

Job Purpose

Analyze and interpret data, procedures, activities, and pertinent documents to provide relevant and up to date information to support decision-making and the effective working of Account Maintenance & Operations and Billing (NE & NY). Provide data analytics and collaborate cross-functionally to drive results support leading the long-term estimates projects and processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Advanced in data-analytics, data-modeling, and use of related software to lead back-office business reporting.

  • Develop and maintain analytical systems, models and procedures in order to support design solutions and enhance time / consistency / safety / efficiency and operability.

  • Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.

  • Research and analyze key themes from a wide range of data sources to identify how different scenarios may impact upon the business.

  • Translate business objectives into clearly defined business cases, annual plans, and objectives in order to support achievement of departmental/operational area.

  • Develop and utilize peer group network in order to absorb and apply technical/professional best practice within own area of specialism.

  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to obtain and share information to benefit National Grid’s Billing Credit & Collections processes.

  • Independently collate and analyze data to support the department’s decision-making processes.

  • Effectively communicate and influence internal and external business partners.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferably in an analytical/ business discipline with 4+ years of experience or Minimum of a HSD or GED with 5-7 years related professional experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)

  • SQL, experience writing complex queries from scratch, creating and revising stored procedures and user defined functions

  • Data modeling experience

  • Working across different RDBMS and tools e.g. Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), IBM DB2 (SQL PL), and Microsoft Access

  • Knowledge of reporting and dashboard tools e.g. SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI

  • Experience creating analysis and data visualizations which can convey information to stakeholders of varying backgrounds

  • Tech adaptability, aptitude for learning new software, languages, and systems quickly

  • Understanding of SharePoint; file creation, sharing, and security

  • Interpersonal capabilities and ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams (sound negotiation & problem-solving skills)

  • Proven experience anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead about next steps, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness and the ability to investigate the situation beyond routine questioning.

  • Ability to successfully prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

  • Strong decision making and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Salary

$79,000 - $93,000 a year

Salary commensurate with location and experience

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
