Job Purpose
To be a liaison between National Grid and a selected contractor to support program development activities. This role will be managing oversight of multiple projects at once preparing them for successful execution. Facilitating successful interactions and coordination between all internal and external support functions will be required to deliver mega-projects in multiple contract styles. This position will also require participation in bid events, negotiations and other pre-contract activities described below.

External position management, including hiring and termination
Facilitating successful internal and external business relationships
Work-plan Delivery
Pre-contract management for items such as permitting, real estate, comms, outage planning and all other necessary duties to ensure the bids, contracts and work packages can be successfully delivered by the project construction staff.
Ensure constructors have contractual obligations that ensure timely and budget conscious delivery of the Megaprojects portfolio including stakeholder management and cadenced reporting.
Establish and maintain baseline schedules, resource loading, risk registers, estimates and spend profiles until transferring work packages to the PM team.
Build and deliver sanction papers and any other associated funding documentation.
Find and implement continuous improvement in the project delivery to create a more efficient operation in future projects.
Develop relationships with stakeholders regarding program delivery including project management, operations, resource planning, design/engineering, and customers.
Foster relationships with contractors for efficient construction and service to the company.
Contractor Management
Ensure team has a cadenced, metric-based approach to contractor and contract performance evaluation and reporting to stakeholders and vendors.
Establish business relationships with contractors that demonstrate superior capabilities in Mega Projects delivery
Work with Procurement and selected contractor on create new or updating existing high capital dollar contract strategies
Coordinate with project teams and EPC management contractor to support the mega project portfolio
Reporting / Audits
Ensure contract is being administered properly and delivering to the companies benefit.
Review reporting to aid in consistent management of contracts
Internal and external communications plan management
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and have the ability to listen and learn from others.
Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to manage complex and varied interpersonal relationships to successfully complete projects.
Qualifications
Strong background or certification in Construction Management, Contract Management or Work Planning/Project Management
Polished presentation ability for executive teams and large groups
Stakeholder Management – The Program Manager will be expected to maintain a relationship with all National Grid & Contractor stakeholders. This individual should expect to check in with all stakeholders and periodically meet face to face with key players.
Oversee preliminary project budgets and financial controls, project management systems and processes
Strong negotiation skills
Large project/portfolio work management in a dynamically changing environment
Ability to prioritize and execute based on information at hand without direction when necessary
Demonstrated ability to operate independently or as part of a team
Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated contract, construction management, or project management equivalent experience necessary. Experience within the electric utility industry is greatly preferred.
Ability to travel as required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications with a focus on excel and PowerPoint
Experience with construction management software, such as Procore is preferred

Salary
$141,000 - $166,000 a year
