Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a cross-functional Divisional Program Management team for the NY Electric business. Accountable for managing a large portfolio of non-complex projects, programs, and blankets throughout their lifecycle, engaging key stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and delivery of scope, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction. Proactively drive the delivery of key strategies and processes to achieve workplan targets and goals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to a team of approximately 8-10 Divisional Project Managers who are accountable for the delivery of non-complex projects, programs, and blankets for the NY Electric business within agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule.

  • Inspire and deliver new collaborative ways of working within the team and with key process stakeholders (Asset Management & Engineering, CEI, Contract Management, Customer, Distribution Design, Environmental, Operations, Protection, Real Estate, Resource Coordination, Substations, Telecom, TLE, TLS, etc.) to drive efficiency and performance excellence.

  • Establish and execute consistent performance management/KPIs and reports necessary to ensure successful delivery of portfolio of work.

  • Oversee the delivery of the Distributed Generation (DG) portfolio, partnering closely with CEI, to meet established KPIs and EAM targets.

  • Be a champion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through active engagement and support of initiatives, modeling inclusive behaviors and educating teams on DEI.

  • Manage implementation of frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls necessary to drive an efficient and effective approach that optimizes the success of project/program delivery.

  • Recruit, develop, and empower a highly motivated, capable, and talented team through coaching, training, and leadership support.

  • Drive and influence non-complex workplan prioritization to ensure portfolio outcomes are obtained.

  • Ensure delivery of the annual I&M program (Distribution Line & Transmission Line) to achieve regulatory thresholds.

  • Ownership of project, program, and blanket sanctions and re-sanctions as appropriate.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (in a relevant discipline) with a considerable breadth and depth of proven experience in project or program management, functional management, business/project governance or operationally related areas.

  • Strong understanding of financial budgeting and forecasting, project scheduling, project progress reporting (milestone tracking, KPI development, etc.), and stakeholder management.

  • Strong familiarity with forecasting and scheduling tools like Primavera (P6) and Copperleaf.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and influencing teams, and collaborating with a wide stakeholder group to solve cross-functional issues.

  • Experience successfully leading, inspiring and motivating a team that operates efficiently and effectively.

  • Several years of Project Management experience; PMP certification desired, but not required.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with Utility Engineering, Design, Permitting and Construction.

  • Successful track record of identifying and sharing best practices from within and outside the company.

  • Valid drivers license required with safe driving history that meets National Grid standards.

Salary

$146,000- $172,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
