National Grid is hiring a Senior Project Manager – Development & Delivery for our Customer Connections department in West Glamorgan.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with a demonstrable background in project delivery, securing consents and land rights, whilst liaising with public affairs on major infrastructure projects. Leading a multi-function team of in-house resource and external consultants in a diverse matrix organisation setup. Excellent Stakeholder and Customer Management skills will be key to success of this role.

You are at the heart of delivering the Customer Connections portfolio, and more specifically supporting the Project Director in delivery a major project in the West Glamorgan region, to deliver on our net zero targets and the transition to greener technology.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is going to take the job personally! Someone who is going to be completely committed to getting their project(s) of works delivered safely, on time and to budget. You will have experience in managing a range of large-scale projects from development through to delivery under the Town and Country Planning Act and / or Planning Act 2008 including environmental impact, be able to demonstrate an exceptional level of stakeholder management, this may include local authorities, statutory consultees, landowners, customers and Ofgem. You will have experience of identifying and instructing project resources ahead of need and contract management practice in a similar field or discipline, however this could be a development aspiration.

You’ll have strong commercial acumen with demonstrable experience of leading cross functional teams and a stakeholder-centric approach to delivering a high quality output. You’ll be a self-starter who is good at playing devil’s advocate and foreseeing potential problems. You may have experience outside of a client role as either contractor or customer.

You’ll ideally have a degree or qualification in town and country planning, environmental disciplines, surveying, project management, engineering, business management or equivalent experience, and you will need a driving license that permits you to drive in the UK.
