We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.
Job Summary
Dominion is seeking a senior-level Electrical/I&C Engineer III or Engineering Technical Specialist III to provide Design and Test Engineering support for the Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) Projects at Surry Nuclear Power Station in Surry, Virginia. SLR Projects are large equipment and system replacement projects designed to extend the life of the station. Specific Electrical and/or I&C hands on experience is desired.
Individual will primarily provide Test Engineering support to SLR projects in implementing and testing Design Changes. Work shall be performed based on a thorough understanding of the Plant Design Bases. Individual job responsibilities include Test Plan and Post Mod Testing (PMT) development via detailed analysis, research, and design reviews and also including plant walkdowns, interaction with Operations and the implementing department(s). Additionally, the individual may perform some limited Design Change Development related activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The successful candidate for this position already possesses 5+ years of engineering experience and full knowledge of plant or equivalent equipment operation and has a demonstrated grasp of fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures, and criteria needed to carry out assigned engineering tasks. Ability to exercise good judgment is required on details of work, and in making preliminary selections, and adaptations of testing alternatives. Qualifications:
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices. Ability to process information and effectively manage multiple tasks. Strong planning and organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing). Equally effective working independently or in team environment with various groups in the station. Willing to get into the field and perform hands on evaluation of plant modifications. In-depth knowledge of IEEE Standard Device Numbers used for automatic switchgear on station elementary and wiring diagrams. Ability to read complex station Electrical Sketch diagrams, Electrical Wiring diagrams, Instrument Loop diagrams and Mechanical diagrams. Ability to work independently to perform complex circuit analysis on new and existing equipment and control systems. Ability to comprehend Maintenance and Operating department procedures. Ability to use multimeter to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical circuits using station and vendor drawings. Have understanding of programmable logic controllers and ladder logic. Willing to perform hands on work in low voltage circuits including and up to 480VAC and 135VDC and hydro tests on piping systems up to 4200 psig.
Education Requirements
For Engineer titles, required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): Bachelor (must meet Required Engineering Criteria provided below); Required discipline(s): Engineering, Computer Science
For Engineering Technical Specialist titles, Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
