Brain Injury Support Worker (Rehabilitation) / Personal Support Worker (PSW) - (1) Full-Time Position in our Congregate Care Setting at Bishop Alexander Carter House, Sudbury, ON, Northeast Region

35 Hours per week

Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.

This Opportunity:

We are currently looking to fill 1 Full-time Support Worker (Rehabilitation)/Personal Support Worker -in our Congregate Care Setting at Bishop Alexander Carter House, in Sudbury ON, Northeast Region. 35 hours per week.

Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, overnights (sleep/awake), weekends, and holidays.

Starting wage is $21.86-23.05 , inclusive of the $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Reporting responsibilities (incident reports, behavioral data collection and verbal reports)

  • Participate in any required training

  • Follow policies and procedures as required

  • Provide one to one support and group support within the home and community to adults with an Acquired Brain Injury with activities of daily living, personal care, and rehabilitation planning.

  • Communicate with consumer, family, and team members.

  • To provide services on a flexible basis including evenings and weekends

Qualifications and experience:

  • Post-Secondary preferred in Human and Social Services

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Human Services field and/or working with people with ABI.

  • Current CARE and CPR, First Aid an asset

  • Proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibility

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills

  • Sound behavioral management skills, cognitive problem-solving skills.

  • Proven teamwork abilities

  • Working knowledge of ABI and rehabilitation

  • Ability to effectively deal with behavioral situations

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
