One year of full-time laboratory experience or working knowledge of fish-related laboratory procedures including familiarity with the operation of specialized apparatus or equipment. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Working knowledge of typical tests relative to the field of Molecular Biology and Developmental Biology. Familiarity with the operation of animal line management. Formal training in subject matter related to the project experience with fish husbandry, experience with fundamental molecular biology experiments (such as DNA extractions and purifications, PCR, and gel electrophoresis, cloning and in situ hybridization, etc.). Research Support Specialist Required Qualifications: (Evidenced by an attached resume) Bachelor of Science degree (foreign equivalent). Ability to demonstrate professional competence in research activities. Formal training in bench work in molecular biology or developmental biology (such as DNA extractions and purifications, PCR, and gel electrophoresis, cloning and in situ hybridization, microinjection etc.). Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of fish-related laboratory procedures. Familiarity with the operation of animal line management. Brief Description of Duties: Working under general supervision, will perform a wide variety of standard tasks or procedures to directly assist a research project for Dr. Chi-Kuo Hu in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. The research project involves performing molecular biology and developmental biology research using DNA extractions and purification, PCR, cloning and in situ hybridization, genome editing (CRISPR & transgenesis). In addition, the work duty also involves managing killifish husbandry. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. They will be familiar with standards used in research and knowledge, experience in handling multiple variables or tasks, and are interested in managing experimental animals (killifish). Assist the PI and lab members with providing support for advanced research and/or experimental activity/processes. Assist the PI and lab members with performing a wide variety of standard tasks and/or procedures to take care and manage killifish for research Assist with maintaining compliance with environmental health and safety Other duties or projects as assigned. Special Notes: FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation.
