HERC Research Scientist in Stony Brook, New York

Research Scientist - 1900722

Required Qualification:(as evidenced by an attached resume)

Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) in Neurosciences in hand by August 31, 2019. The candidate must have high motivation and strong ability to collaboratively, as well as independently. At least five years of research experience. Technical expertise in immunohistochemistry, radiation biology, immune system dysregulation, cell culture, flow cytometry, radiographic imaging (CT, MRI, and X rays), and in vivo animal studies. Knowledge of R-statistic commands.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in molecular imaging techniques (spectrophotometry, spectrofluorometry, and fluoromicroscopy), computational analysis, and graph plotting using various software (i.e. Excel, Origin, and Prism graph pad). Research experience in radiological technology and animal experimentation (e.g. surgery, perfusion, collection of blood and tissue samples).

Brief Description:

  • Plan and Conduct experiments in the field of Radiation Biology and Radiation Countermeasures.

  • Overall lab management, Training personnel on specialized skills and research methods.

  • Prepare manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed and/or scientific journals.

  • Prepare grant proposals; apply for grants, to include writing proposals for research projects, identifying funding sources and training opportunities.

  • Other Duties as assigned.
