Research Laboratory Worker or Research Technician I Research Laboratory Worker Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume) HS Diploma (foreign equivalent or higher) with additional courses in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. Technical knowledge as evidenced by upper division course work in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. Experience working independently and as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) with a concentration in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field in hand by September 1st 2022. Experience with molecular cloning. Experience with protein overexpression and purification. Brief Description of Duties: The Research Laboratory Worker position in Dr. Steven Glynn's lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology will learn from and assist the Principal Investigator with research tasks aimed at understanding the structure and mechanism of proteins related to mitochondrial quality control. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Research Laboratory Worker Job Duties: Assist Principal Investigator with gathering of data in projects involving protein expression, purification and crystallization. Assist Principal Investigator with ordering supplies to keep the lab inventory well stocked. Assist Principal Investigator with maintaining compliance with environmental health and safety procedures. Participate in weekly lab meetings. Other duties as assigned. Research Technician I Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume) HS diploma (foreign equivalent or higher) with additional courses in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. Technical knowledge as evidenced by coursework in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. One year of full-time experience directly related to the project or program and familiarity with biochemistry laboratory procedures. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) with a concentration in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field in hand by September 1st 2022. Experience with molecular cloning. Experience with protein expression and purification. Experience with membrane protein expression and purification.
