PrEP Education Specialist Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of Bachelor's degree, four (4) years of full time work experience with HIV/AIDs and/or LGBTQ* population. Two (2) years of full-time experience working in the field of HIV/AIDS and/or LGBTQ* services. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in public health, social work or related field. Experience working with AIRS reporting system. Experience working with diverse populations including people living with HIV, mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. Bilingual in English/Spanish. Brief Description of Duties: The Education Specialist will work independently and work closely with existing staff to promote and support access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) to individuals who are HIV-negative and at risk for HIV infection. The incumbent will work with clinic staff to identify patients appropriate for PrEP; educate patients about PrEP and encourage their participation in the program; provide behavioral and adherence counseling for clients receiving PrEP treatment; conduct community outreach and education to increase acceptance of PrEP; provide staff training for clinic personnel about PrEP; ensure that patients are connected to and maintained in primary medical care; and supervise to part-time Peer Educators. Work with clinic staff to identify patients appropriate for PrEP. Educate potential patients about PrEP and encourage their participation in the program. Provide behavioral and adherence counseling for clients receiving PrEP treatment. Increase acceptance of PrEP by educating community residents and agencies about the program. Conduct community outreach to increase PrEP caseload. Provide staff training for clinic personnel about PrEP. Supervise two part-time PrEP peer educators. Ensure patients are connected to and maintained in primary medical care. Keep written and computerized records of all work performed and prepare monthly activity reports to measure progress towards accomplishment of program goals. Other duties as assigned. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
