HERC: Metro New York & Southern Connecticut Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Instructor, Anesthesiology, Pre-Operative Services (1.0 FTE) in Stony Brook, New York

This Full-Time position is responsible for patient care and for teaching medical students, residents, as well as other healthcare professionals. This position serves as a healthcare professional who, under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides healthcare service to patients in the Pre-Operative Services Center, and in Stony Brook University Hospital In-Patient services. Duties include: Perform pre-anesthesia clinical evaluations of patients which includes histories, physical examinations, laboratory testing, & consults. Perform Anesthesia Consults Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Counsel and advise patients and families. Responsible for the education of patients and their families, as well as the general public. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Physician Assistant: NYS License or Eligible, Board Certified. Bachelor's or Masters degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants. Three years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant. Nurse Practitioner: NYS License or Eligible, Board Certified specialty area of Adult & Pediatric (Family). Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner. Three years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 years of experience working in any of the following clinical areas: Operating rooms, Anesthesiology, Surgical Specialties and Internal Medicine.
