Stony Brook University's Program in Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) is hiring full-time lecturers to start in August 2023. A commitment to innovative teaching; possession of an MA, MPhil, ABD status, MFA, or PhD in a related field; and a minimum of three years' experience teaching expository writing at the college level are required. Preferred are experience with portfolio-based outcomes assessment; evidence of teaching technical and/or professional communications; evidence of departmental service; experience with creative writing; and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. The position is for a one-year (ten-month) contract with the possibility of renewal. The teaching load is 3/3, primarily in first-year writing with occasional opportunities to teach in the PWR's upper-division curriculum. Other duties include mentoring students, actively contributing to PWR initiatives, and serving the university community.
