The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Machinist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Setting up and operating a wide variety of type, model and size machine tools such as boring bars, drills, grinders, jig bores, key seaters, lathes, milling machines, NC/CNC/MDI machines, presses, saws and precision testing and measuring instruments to the instrument manufacturer's specification of accuracy.
Fabricating, fitting and assembling parts to the required tolerances and specifications using a wide variety of metallic and nonmetallic materials.
Knowing and applying operating principles, purpose, proper application and design limitations of machine tools, machine assemblies and mechanical devices; knows the characteristics of metallic and non metallic materials used in the fabrication, rebuilding and repair of machines and mechanical devices.
Reading and working to the indicated accuracy, specifications and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blueprints, sketches, equipment manuals and vendor diagrams.
Knowing and using safe work methods when performing the job requirements so as to avoid personal injury, injury to co-workers or damage to 3M property.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
- Associates degree or Technical diploma in Machine Tool Technology
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
3 years experience running basic machining equipment (turning, milling, welding) - Experience working with CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled), Lathe and Mill equipment - Experience working with Siemens, Fanuc, Mitsubishi and Mazatrol equipment in a private, public, government, or military environment.
3 years experience working with Unigraphics CAD software in a private, public, government, or military environment.
5 years experience working with CNC machining equipment in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Travel: May include up to 0% domestic/international
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
