The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services within the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) division of agency.
The Forensics Services campus in St. Peter is comprised of the Forensic Mental Health Program and the Forensic Nursing Home. Forensics Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
The Speech Pathology Clinician is responsible for all aspects of speech pathology service delivery for patients residing within Forensic Services. Speech, language, hearing, and dysphagia services are provided as part of comprehensive and multi-disciplinary treatment to patients. The purpose is to identify, assess, diagnose, prevent, and treat speech, voice, language, hearing, and cognitive and social aspects of communication and swallowing disorders.
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Perform duties as assigned.
Complete speech/language/hearing/dysphagia evaluations upon physician’s orders.
Refer patients for additional services as deemed necessary per evaluation/screening results.
Develop individual sessions, groups, and teaching strategies that meet patient needs.
Use a variety of person-centered treatment modalities, facilitate group and individual sessions for patients to maximize the ability to communicate.
Complete documentation in a timely, relevant, and professional manner adhering to the Speech Therapy service delivery plan and the progress note policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
Certification in CPR
Current PELSB (Department of Education license as Speech-Language Pathologist. Current American Speech Language-Hearing Certificate of Clinical Competence and at least two years' experience in applied settings.
Current Minnesota Department of Health license.
Knowledge and experience in Due Process, SPED Forms, and electronic medical records.
Experience in clinical instruction, supervision, or mentorship.
Ability to work with little direct supervision, within general guidelines and State policies, flexible and adaptable manner, handling multiple tasks and priorities.
