Our team in Forensic Mental Health Program (FMHP) is seeking a dynamic, dedicated individual to join us for a unique and rewarding opportunity as a Rehabilitation Counselor Senior working in Vocation under Clinical Programming. This position provides vocational rehabilitation counseling services to patients of the Forensic Mental Health Program (FMHP), to develop individualized written rehabilitation plans, to provide rehabilitation services and managing case load records. To work closely with patients, teams, residences, other rehabilitative departments. Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), county case managers, industry customers and vendors and other community agencies.

• To complete comprehensive diagnostic studies of assigned patients so that an effective determination of need and eligibility for available programming can be made.

• To develop and implement a comprehensive rehab plan so that patients’ goals may be achieved in a timely and effective manner.

• To counsel patients regarding their vocational strengths and needs so that effective guidance is provided, and an optimum opportunity is available for patient progress and success.

• To practice positive interpersonal communication so that an environment which fosters mutual respect and personal growth is enhanced.

• To comply with all Federal, State and FMHP policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all standards and rules.

• To comply with all Safety and Health Standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience or four (4) years advanced technical or paraprofessional experience providing counseling, behavioral management, rehabilitation services, caseload management, development or contribution to treatment or rehabilitation plans, and/or job placement services to individuals with developmental disabilities, mentally ill, or adjudicated sexual offense populations.

Note: A Bachelor’s degree Rehabilitation (Vocational and Counseling), Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Sociology may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling and/or closely related fields. Ability to work in a team environment. Experience working with mentally ill and dangerous patients (MID). Experience in job coaching,conflict resolution skills, the ability to problem-solve high stress situations and experience being a member of a multifaceted interdisciplinary team.
