This position exists to provide technical assistance and administrative support to the Tribal Advocacy Council on Energy (TACE) and advise the department on the development of a culturally responsive clean energy grants program based on the priorities identified by the TACE. This position facilitates communication, provides technical assistance, researches and develops information related to successful implementation of TACE. The Tribal Advocacy Council on Energy is a Tribally led council that brings forward recommendations for improving tribal energy through effective collaboration and partnerships

In addition to leading support for TACE and its members, this position will lead internal communication with Commerce DER leadership and key staff and will serve as the face of TACE with partner organizations, utilities, industry representatives and organizations and the public, promoting and explaining the TACE to a variety of interested stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

3 (three) years of experience working with Tribal Nations.

A Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to one (1) year of experience. An Advanced degree is equivalent to eighteen (18) months of experience.

Applicants who meet the above education/experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:

  • Working knowledge of energy policy and program experience.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding, both historical and contemporary, of Tribal Nations in MN.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent public relations skills, including maintaining professional and courteous contact at all times.

  • A general understand of public policy principles and analysis of public programs, including relevant rules, regulations and laws.

  • Ability to convey energy program information effectively to a wide range of interested parties.

  • Strong project management skills and organization skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background and experience working in tribal government.

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis skills sufficient to develop program guidelines and evaluate program results.

  • Knowledge of energy related program and deployment approaches.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.

Additional Requirements
