This position exists to supervise the MnDOT Central Shop under the administrative direction of the Transportation Operations Supervisor 2 (TOS2), perform heavy equipment mechanic duties, and assist the TOS2 in managing and scheduling routine and preventive maintenance and repairs of the Non-District’s fleet of equipment. Facilitate outsourced repairs as required and ensure documentation is completed.
MnDOT does not sponsor applicants for visas or Optional Practical Exam for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience providing heavy equipment maintenance & repair (e.g., HEM, HEFM) that includes providing technical training and direction to staff (e.g., heavy, medium, or light duty electronics; hydraulics; diesel emissions; spreader controls and systems; engines, transmissions, or brakes; etc.).
OR
Four years of experience providing heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience (e.g., HEM or HEFM).
NOTE: Graduation from a two-year HEM training program may substitute for one year of the four years of HEM or HEFM experience.
And the following are required:
· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite sufficient to work with spreadsheets in Excel, write correspondences in word, update technical manuals with Microsoft Publisher, etc.
· Valid Class D driver’s license required at time of hire.
· Minimum of a Class A/B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction is required at the time of passing probation.
Preferred Qualifications
· Class A CDL with no air brake restriction and tanker endorsements
· Experience with M5/TAMS
· Minnesota Commercial Vehicle Inspector Certification/License
· Experience with MnDOT’s development process, contact administration and planning processes.
