In the 2023 legislative session, the Governor’s Office, Minnesota legislature, and leaders for children and families worked in partnership to pass legislation establishing the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) to create a sustainable, public face for children’s issues in state government. This new cabinet-level agency brings together programs centered on children and families, including child care and early learning, child support, child safety and permanency, economic support and food assistance, and youth opportunity. The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Agency is effective July 1, 2024.

As the DCYF Strategic Project Manager you will:

  • Lead high-level (agency-wide, administration-wide or cross-agency/governmental) efforts directed at organizational effectiveness, alignment, equity, and change management

  • Direct strategic planning and evaluation implementation efforts across multiple partners to drive decision-making and policy development at the highest levels

  • Manage leadership initiatives across DCYF, in coordination with external partners and stakeholders as applicable

  • Provide strategic direction on a system of leadership that advances the agency’s mission and develops current and future leaders

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.

3 years of strong consulting/project management, analytical and problem-solving skills focused on large scale, highly visible projects with the ability to think strategically and align projects with business goals. Experience must demonstrate:

  • Project management, leading complex projects across administrations and organizations designed to provide strategic leadership.

  • Complex problem solving and strategic thinking skills.

  • Building and overseeing effective workgroups and teams with a variety of stakeholders and perspectives.

  • Facilitation of group discussions, public speaking, and presenting complex information to diverse audiences.

  • Leading the development of detailed action plans.

  • Strong human relations skills set with ability to inform, facilitate, negotiate with and broker agreements between individuals and groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced level analytical ability with extensive background in roles related in government

  • Knowledge of state government programs and their interrelationships and an understanding of human services policy and procedures, and of government functions and relations.

  • Ability to work with executive leadership.

  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
