This position is telework eligible up to two days a week.

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of personnel assigned to the State Emergency Response Team. Responsibilities include overseeing workload of the separate teams and individuals on those teams and achieving goals and objectives of the division/program; performing public education and training; assisting in the formulation and implementation of division policy and procedure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years supervisory or lead work experience

  • Three* years professional level experience to include all of the following:

  • Working with fire and life safety related programs

  • State emergency response

  • Public education and training

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds

*Bachelor's degree from an accredited school can substitute for one year of professional level experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in fire administration, public administration or closely related field.

  • Certification from the Minnesota Fire Service Certification Board in the following: Haz-Mat Technician, Technical Rescue, Fire Inspector 1, Fire Instructor 1 (out of state applicants can show IFSAC or Pro Board certification).

  • Experience gained by direct involvement with the writing of grants and execution of contracts.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
