This position serves our partners at both the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) and the Minnesota Board of Animal Health (BAH). The MNIT MDA and BAH teams support technology critical to ensuring food supply integrity and safety, livestock health, and supporting a vibrant agricultural economy for Minnesota.
The Salesforce Lead Developer will provide expert technical leadership and expertise in the development of new and existing custom software applications within the Department of Agriculture (MDA). Responsibilities include leading the MNIT development team in the maintenance and enhancement of the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management system and the associated system modernization, a cloud hosted, serverless platform, custom built application based on modern development techniques, methodologies, and technologies for the Department. This position also includes additional non-salesforce architecture design, development and execution as needed and prioritized by the MDA and MNIT leadership.
This role involves conducting analyses, programming, documentation, testing, installation, and training to successfully complete the modules or application, as needed and prioritized by the MDA and MNIT leadership.
As a senior-level expert, the developer will provide recommendations and guidance in application design and architecture, ensuring all technical aspects adhere to established standards and protocols. The incumbent will also research emerging technologies and create plans for implementing innovative solutions across the Department of Agriculture (MDA) and the Board of Animal Health (BAH). Serves as a backup to other staff during absences for enterprise and legacy application support.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of IT related experience in back-end development of applications using Java, Logic Apps, or SalesForce.
Experience must include:
Strong expertise in Salesforce platform development - Workflow, Lightening, APEX, SOQL, Customer Portal and S-Docs.
Strong expertise in salesforce platform administration – User Management, Data Management, Security, Single Sign on, Troubleshooting flow issues.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with developing and troubleshooting Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions.
Experience with Azure cloud providers.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coaching and mentoring junior developers
Experience with issue tracking, code versioning, and integrated development environments
Experience with Confluence, Jira, or Agile Place
Experience with serverless platforms and Azure DevOps
Experience with SQL data stores, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
Experience with SSRS and PowerBI, IBM DB2 structure and reporting
Pluralsight (or equivalent) Skills Assessment level equal to “Expert” in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Angular, C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, Azure, Node.js, and Git
