This position supervises the research and data analytics work unit for the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and oversees the preparation of the Annual Report and other required publications in support of the OTS mission. Incumbent will act as liaison and project manager on process improvement projects and assist with the leadership of divisional goals and objectives. Establishes work unit goals and objectives which support division and department goals and monitors the accuracy and quality of work. Serves as the expert for complicated research or data questions and resolves the most complex customer problems related to highway safety data and research including drafting written responses to questions and concerns raised by agency staff, legislators, and other stakeholders or customers.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of professional level experience conducting research, statistics, and/or quantitative analysis.
Professional experience to include the following:
Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience; ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of research staff
Project management skills and experience
Demonstrated experience working in research, data analysis, and evaluation tasks and the ability to become a subject matter expert
Experience recognizing and resolving problems with data, systems, and equipment to determine and recommend appropriate action
Strong organizational and planning skills
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities
A bachelor's degree or higher in math, statistics, data analytics or related field may substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience related to traffic safety topic areas
Excellent technical and IT knowledge
Experience working with federal grant programs (specifically related to traffic safety)
Technical data visualization skills and abilities
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
