This position exists to provide Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) customers with top-notch customer service in person, and writing. This position represents the primary in person and electronic mail contact for DVS and is the agency’s face to customers coming in-person to divisional public offices.

Records Agents answer questions and fulfill requests for driver’s license and motor vehicle transactions and information, including registration, report of sale, and titling, as well as inquiries from law enforcement agencies, deputy registrars, driver’s license agents, and DVS branch offices.

Record Agents locate customer records in the electronic DVS system and provide information in response to customer inquires or print out copies of records to clientele, performing counter operations, electronic transactions and accurate fee collection while following the guidance of State and Federal data privacy laws

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Ability to communicate with others and understand information; read, write and respond to customers in fluent English.

  2. Cashiering and basic math skills in order to collect, count, reconcile and complete daily transactions.

  3. Ability to provide in-person customer service sufficient to assist working in a high volume, stressful environment.

  4. Ability to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers on the phone or in person (face to face contact).

  5. Typing/Keyboarding skills.

  6. Data entry skills sufficient to enter accurate data onto paper forms and computer entry screens.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Excellent Attendance.

  2. High level of customer service with the ability to continually learn, adapt and excel with internal and external customers to interact face to face.

  3. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to independently compose high-level communications relaying complex division resolutions to a wide variety of customers.

  4. Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) with proficient technical ability to navigate, retrieve, and utilize data from a variety of electronic resources, including electronic DVS systems (MNDRIVE), document management and web-based applications.

  5. Knowledge of a written and spoken second language (e.g., Spanish, Hmong or Somali) and English sufficient to translate messages from one language to the other, while maintaining message content, context, and style.

  6. The ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
