These seasonal positions are anticipated to start mid- February 2025 and are anticipated to go through September 2025.

This position exists to provide and ensure the agency has the most current and accurate information to carry out the agency mission in regards to issuing refunds, tax orders, collection activities, and various other activities. Main duties include using various software programs to research and locate current demographic information for taxpayers and other government debtors for returned mail received at the Department of Revenue. More specifically, updating and/or correcting demographical information (names, addresses, social security numbers) for individual income tax returns, property tax refund returns, military and political campaign returns. The work of this position assists in meeting Division goals, supports the Agency's strategic plan, and best serves the public.

NOTE: Current State of Minnesota employees may not be considered for these positions if the appointment will require compensation at overtime rates, unless they resign from their current position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Data entry sufficient to perform tasks with speed and accuracy to update taxpayer information, respond to e-mail requests, and write comments on customer records.

  • English sufficient to read, understand, and write clear comments on customer records, understand, and apply procedures to resolve work items.

  • English sufficient to spot difference among information presented when conducting research for work items, such as names, SSNs, and address variations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with GenTax

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to do research using a variety of software programs and the Internet

  • Clerical experience

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as correspondence or laptop computer. Although this job is defined as sedentary, a certain amount of walking and standing is necessary in carrying out job duties.

Additional Requirements

All individual income tax filing and payment obligations must be current prior to interviewing for this position.
