This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.

As the Network Supervisor you will supervise and support the MNIT State of Minnesota Network team, ensuring that they can effectively and efficiently provision and manage the network enabling daily Intranet and internet operations and internal system operations. In addition to performing supervisory responsibilities, you will also ensure:

  • System performance goals, and service level agreements are established and met providing network services stability and high availability.

  • Software and hardware are maintained at an appropriate level.

  • New systems are evaluated and implemented as appropriate.

  • Personnel skills are developed to meet present and future Voice Applications needs.

  • Manage network application activities and make work assignments within unit to meet customer timelines and expectation.

  • Advise Network and Telecom Manager so that budgets are prepared and executed with division requirements.

  • Be a resource for internal and external customers to bring question or concerns regarding voice services.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience supporting network technologies.

Experience must include:

  • Two (2) years of lead work or supervisory experience.

  • Design, installation, maintenance, diagnosis and operation of network technologies.

  • Cisco hardware and software expereince.

  • Routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF and MPLS.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VPN technologies.

  • Experience with service level agreements.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with upper management, customers, peers, and with subordinates.

  • Ability to coach and motivate technical staff.

  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, schedule, and implement major network projects and develop process for their ongoing support activities.
