This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

As an IT Senior Quality Assurance Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our software systems. You'll leverage your expertise in software testing, quality assurance, and quality control to elevate the integrity of both the application’s code and its overall functionality. Beyond testing outcomes, you’ll influence the quality of the code itself, applying best practices and advanced testing methodologies. As a QA Program Lead over our portfolio of projects, you'll mentor and train junior team members, manage QA activities, and maintain essential quality control documentation for audits.

In addition, you will be responsible for resource assignments, based on the project priority, participate in meetings where you may need to proactively advocate for our QA team. You will need to work collaboratively with the Development, Business Analyst and Release teams daily, negotiating timelines, depth and breadth of testing, the availability of environments and managing the testing activity calendar. Must be able to actively communicate with Supervisors and upper-level management providing necessary updates during critical and non-critical times.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of IT quality assurance experience at the program level.

Experience must also include:

  • Coordinating multiple resources, assignments, testing activities, and timelines for a large portfolio of initiatives with critical business deadlines.

  • Providing IT quality assurance project estimations (hours and duration).

  • Demonstrated proficiency with quality testing and tracking tools such as IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) or similar.

  • Ability to design reports by extracting and manipulating data using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or ELM to provide status updates, visual content for meeting artifacts, and written communications.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to QA teams while driving quality initiatives, leveraging advanced technical expertise in software testing tools and methodologies to solve complex issues, and adapting quickly to evolving technologies and project requirements in a dynamic work environment.

  • Excellent communication skills as an advocate for QA and for collaboration with management, cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior team members.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance with an emphasis on large, complex systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of CMS testing, security testing, and mobile application testing.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) for quality testing and tracking.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and influence quality strategies across teams and departments.

  • Experience with Minnesota Eligibility Technology System (METS) and State Medical Review Team (SMRT).

  • Experience with Curam HealthCare solutions within the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

  • Experience in manual testing and experience in automated testing with the ability to execute test scripts for system and regression testing, as well as analyze and report overall test statuses and results.
