This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

As an IT Release Coordinator, you will leverage your expertise in Release and Change Management to oversee the entire release lifecycle, including scheduling, coordinating, and managing releases across Minnesota IT Services to support our business partners. You will take ownership of planning and coordinating all phases and activities involved in deploying systems or system updates into the production environment. This role includes facilitating release management meetings, developing release recommendations, and creating deployment plans. You will also be responsible for creating and documenting Change tickets and presenting at Change Advisory Board as well as identifying priorities, conflicts, dependencies, and risks associated with releases, ensuring effective mitigation strategies are in place. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with developers, testers, analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth and successful software development and deployment.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in IT release management, software development, IT project management, or a related role.

Experience must include:

  • Experience with release and change management tools and platforms (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar).

  • Writing and implementing processes and procedures related release and change management.

  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and application deployment processes.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple releases simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage projects, ensuring deadlines are met and objectives are achieved.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, analysts, and project managers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential issues and develop effective solutions.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • ITIL, PMP, or Agile-related certifications.

  • Certified Release Manager or relevant certifications.

  • Experience with enterprise-level release and change management in a large organization or complex environment.

  • Proficiency in using advanced release and deployment tools, including automation and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
