As an Information Security Analyst, you will ensure that State information and partner assets are adequately protected against internal/external threats. This position serves in a mid-level technical role in the Threat and Vulnerability Management Unit within the Enterprise Security Division. You will provide functional technical support and assistance in the implementation and administration of the Enterprise Vulnerability Management systems. Activities will include: configuring and monitoring vulnerability scans, analyzing and prioritizing scans results and providing actionable information to partners so that vulnerabilities can be remediated timely. Finally, this position will include leading and presenting meetings to variety of audiences.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at the work location 1-4 days per month.

Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in an information security related role that includes:

  • Experience working with vulnerability management tools.

  • Experience analyzing scan data for vulnerabilities and assessing the cause and impact of the vulnerability.

  • Experience with computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.

  • Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems platforms.

  • Experience applying information security technologies, including firewall, intrusion detection, vulnerability management, encryption, computer forensics, certificate authority, web, and/or security related application development.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.

  • Experience using network analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities. (e.g., fuzzing, Nmap, etc.).

  • Experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS / Azure.

  • Knowledge and experience of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk) and performing impact/risk assessments.

  • Knowledge of system and application security threats and vulnerabilities (e.g., buffer overflow, mobile code, cross-site scripting, injections, race conditions, covert channel, replay, return-oriented attacks, malicious code).

  • Knowledge of system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.

  • Knowledge and / or experience with windows management and technologies, such as Active Directory, Group Policy, and System Center Configuration Manager.

  • Experience with patch management tools and strategies.

  • Experience presenting and communicating technical topics and information to wide range of audiences, such as technical practitioners, management, and directors.
