As a Health Interface Engineer, you will have a team, project and organizational leadership role at MNIT MDH. You will work on projects designing, building, and maintaining interfaces and an integration infrastructure between MDH systems and systems owned by other organizations. You will provide professional knowledge and technical skills for designing, implementing and supporting health interface solutions, and will collaborate with MDH program staff to identify and document requirements, and to ensure that health interface solutions are using current technologies and approaches that are consistent with MNIT best practices. As a Health Interface Engineer, you will design, build and maintain health interface infrastructure and solutions based on documented requirements, agency, and industry best practices, and will participate in the development of a world-class information exchange environment fueling public health policy decision-making in Minnesota over the next decade.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St Paul, Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in health interface architecture, development principles, processes, and technologies.

Experience must include:

  • Designing, building, and supporting electronic health record interfaces in a health care environment.

  • Designing, building, and supporting data exchange solutions with a health integration engine, such as Rhapsody, Mirth, Cloverleaf, or Bridges.

  • Coding with a high-level programming language such as Java, JavaScript, or C#.

  • Using relational data.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Designing, building, and supporting data exchanges using HL7 2.x, HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), and FHIR services.

  • Designing, building, and supporting data exchange solutions with Rhapsody.

  • Providing technical leadership within an IT organization such as mentoring and architecture review.

  • Experience integrating with Conduent Maven disease surveillance system (https://www.conduent.com/government-solutions/government-healthcare-solutions/disease-surveillance-outbreak-management-system/) .

  • Experience working with local, state, or national public health reporting.
