State of Minnesota Grants Specialist in St. Paul, Minnesota

Job Summary Job Summary This is a temporary unclassified appointment expected to last up to 2 years. This posting may be used to fill multiple positions. These temporary unclassified (up to 2 years) positions will assist with the administration of projects and programs for the Small Business Assistance Office and Business Development Units. This position assists the program manager and Grants Specialist Senior in reviewing grant applications, processing grant contracts, conducts grant accounting and data collection, as well as monitors program and grant activities. Incumbents will be the first line source of assistance with grantees, providing information on rules and regulations, compliance with grant terms and conditions. This position will also design, develop, and maintain program promotional and informational materials. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economic Development, Urban Planning, Community Development, or a related field as determined by the agency OR Two (2) years of technical/administrative experience assisting with grant administration including: participation grant application review, administrative processing, and coordinating of grant review meetings. Knowledge of Accounting practices and principles to review financial reports, recognize errors, and inconsistencies. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Data entry skills. Ability to communicate with customers/stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience with contracts and/or grant programs. Analytical skills to manage databases and spreadsheets. Ability to evaluate and interpret statutes, laws, rules, and regulations. Organizational skills to manage workload, competing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
