This position provides administrative and system support for the SEMA4 Benefits Administration module. The primary function is to manage employee events that are created by state agencies’ HR departments and Employee Insurance (EI) and pass through Benefits Administration, COBRA and Billing. The focus is to monitor transactions; research, analyze and resolve conflicts in data or system processing as it impacts employee insurance eligibility. This position serves as a key source of system information and provides guidance to EI, Payroll and State Agencies regarding system set up, transaction procedures and processes, and requirements/impact on other SEMA4 modules.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of para-professional experience, or an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education and/or experience that demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience working with PeopleSoft HCM, SEMA4 (Human Resources or Benefits) or similar type transactional processing databases.

  • Ability to compare data with source documents and enter data in specific data fields with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Working knowledge of various employee insurance plans and eligibility.

  • Demonstrated experience with detailed research, data analysis and problem resolution.

The following experience will be assessed at interview.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills sufficient to write, respond or present to varying customers.

  • Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work.

  • Human relations skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and diverse customers.

  • Basic understanding of bargaining units.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a union environment.

  • Experience working with reporting tools such as PSQuery, Crystal, or Document Direct

  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance related laws, policies and standard principles of group insurance (e.g. COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, enrollment, billing, insurance eligibility)
