This position exists to license Minnesota Motor vehicle dealers, issue dealer plates, process applications, follow up on select consumer complaints, claim and collect state taxes and fee from surety companies and keep accurate, complete records of motor vehicle dealers.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to:
Communicate with others and understand information; read, write and respond to customers in fluent English.
provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers on the phone or in person (face to face contact).
provide in-person customer service sufficient to assist working in a high volume, stressful environment.
Maintain accurate and complete records of motor vehicle dealers and inspection reports.
Skills in:
Cashiering and basic math skills in order to collect, count, reconcile and complete daily transactions.
Typing/keyboarding skills & data entry skills sufficient to enter data onto paper forms and computer entry screens.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience conducting motor vehicle transactions at a Deputy Registrar or processing motor vehicle title transactions at a high-volume, fast-paced dealership.
knowledge of MN statutes surrounding salvaged motor vehicles, reconstructed motor vehicles, and the requirements for passing or failing a vehicle inspection.
knowledge of Minnesota statutes surrounding to dealer licensing and the requirements for opening and maintaining a motor vehicle dealership.
Knowledge of Minnesota dealer licensing statutes & rules including but not limited to, Chapters 168,168A, and 297B, 325F and 7400 related rules, policies and procedures.
Have a good understanding of motor vehicle title and registration laws, rules and business practices sufficient to analyze problems and identify which records are needed for criminal and tax fraud investigations.
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
