This position provides administrative support work by providing technical information and services across a wide spectrum of licensing and certification types to customers regulated by the Construction Codes & Licensing Division (CCLD) Department unit by analyzing license filings, conducting basic research based on statutes and rules to approve or deny requests, so that qualified licensed individuals can perform licensed activities. The position also assists customers at the CCLD Help Desk that come into DLI’s office in St. Paul. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of customers in person, on the phone, and through e-mail and other written correspondence.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers and to read, explain and interpret a variety of materials to exam candidates.
Math skills sufficient to perform basic calculations and assure proper fees are paid.
Data entry skills sufficient to read source documents and enter data in database and to compile, sort and verify data accuracy before entering it.
Database management skills sufficient to enter and retrieve data and run daily reports to verify data for completeness, accuracy and discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications
· Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.
· Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL).
