The Minnesota Department of Health's (MDH) Community Public Water Supply (CPWS) Unit is looking for a Compliance Officer to 1) administer and ensure compliance with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) rules and regulations pertaining to public water systems; 2) define, document, and improve compliance SOPs; 3) collaborate with Unit Supervisor, other Compliance Coordinator, Section, and Division staff, and US EPA to optimize program implementation, and 4) provide technical assistance, consultation, and training to staff, public water systems, operators, and others in regard to regulatory compliance for public water supplies. Candidates residing in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota may have the option to telework; however, telework schedules are based on the unit's operational needs and are at supervisory discretion. The incumbent will be working at the St. Paul office location approximately three days a week preparing and responding to water quality monitoring results and schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree may be substituted for six (6) months of experience. A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

One (1) year of experience in the following areas:

· Writing technical or science-based regulatory and/or public education correspondence.

· Managing fast and immediate turnaround in emergency and regular communications with technical partners, such as laboratories.

Additional minimum qualifications to be assessed during interview:

· Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate in a clear, concise, effective manner, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

· Lead and Copper Sampling, Rule, or other relevant experience.

· Detail-oriented, thorough and accurate.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Self-motivated.

· The ability to exercise good judgement and decision-making.

· The ability to manage complex data received from numerous sources.

· The ability to prioritize workload and meet specified deadlines.

· The ability to work both independently, and as a member of a team.

· The ability to receive/react to changes in priorities and implement these changes into the daily schedule.

Physical Requirements

The ability to manage physical paperwork and assemble mailed kits for sample collection.
