The Community Relations Specialist provides leadership and management of Community Relations projects including administrative management for the Cultural and Ethnic Communities Leadership Council (CECLC). The outcome of the work is to engage communities across Minnesota as well as work to reduce disparities and achieve equity in access to services and outcomes for underserved communities. The incumbent will work with other agencies and the communities DHS serves to develop and implement strategies to engage communities and support DHS’ efforts to bolster the department’s equity work.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
Providestatewideanddepartmentalleadershipineffortsthatimproveoutcomesinaccessandservicesfor people ofcolor and American Indians in Minnesota.
Provide staffing and coordination to the entire process and meetings for the CECLC.
CoordinatethedevelopmentofDHS’community engagement work across Minnesota.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of specialized professional work experience managing projects related to human services, public health policy, social services, or health disparities.
Experience must include:
- Understanding of social and health disparities issues affecting populations of color, American Indians, and other populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing and implementing collaborative projects with public or private sector partners to address social/health disparities issues in social determinants of health (where our clients live, work, study, play and worship, housing health poverty, education, employment or a related area).
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Ability to engage participation from individuals at all levels of the organization and external partners.
Ability to form and sustain collaborative and effective working relationships with a wide variety of diverse individuals, community groups, and organizations to work towards a common goal.
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
