This position is telework-eligible up to two days per week.

This position manages BCA’s Community & Stakeholder Engagement Program within the Professional Services Division to identify, develop and implement the agency practices, programs and communication methods needed to ensure that the agency is able to effectively engage, educate inform as well as solicit input and feedback from communities and stakeholders throughout Minnesota. This includes building relationships in BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) communities and other communities that are diverse in language, culture, ethnicity and race as well as many other variables. The purpose is to engage these diverse communities regarding the mission and vision of the BCA, which is to prevent, investigate and solve crimes in collaboration with criminal justice partners and to deliver exceptional law enforcement services for a safer Minnesota. As the BCA serves the state in this way, it’s critical to engage communities and stakeholders to promote BCA services and to hear from many different perspectives about BCA’s policies, operational practices, emerging trends and other related topics.

This individual provides advanced level planning, both program management and coordination for community and stakeholder engagement functions and activities associated with the assigned BCA initiatives as well as strategic planning for the BCA’s community engagement efforts. This position provides data analysis to agency leadership and recommendations for improving BCA’s relationship with communities and stakeholders in Minnesota.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years* of professional level experience with the following:

  • Working with and building relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders

  • Program or project management, strategic planning, data analysis, or similar experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Using computer software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities

*A bachelor's degree in communication, civic engagement, criminal justice, project management, or related field of study may be substituted for one (1) year of professional level experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. 4-year degree in related field

  2. Law enforcement or criminal justice experience

  3. Experience working in government or non-profit organizations

  4. Experience with community engagement program

  5. Advanced computer/digital media skills such as project management software, graphic design, social media etc.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
