Federal Reserve System Java Software Developer in St. Louis, Missouri

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis supports the U.S. Department of the Treasury in key business lines related to financial management for the federal government. We are looking for a Java Software Developer – Full Stack. In this role, you will report to a Manager and be supported by a Senior Software Engineer or a Senior Software Developer.

  • Provide technical assistance in diagnosing and resolving production incidents and determining the root cause and associated long-term resolution for those incidents.

  • Help maintain development and test environments/data to support problem resolution.

  • Provide technical assistance to support application defect resolution.

  • Develop and test software enhancements and application code as assigned.

  • Provide time and effort estimates, for assigned work.

  • Help create and maintain program support documentation, including test plans, capacity plans, and other assigned technical documentation.

  • Implement project plans using accepted system development life cycle concepts.

  • Use and apply technical knowledge on both the job and future planning of job deliverables

  • Research and remain current with industry best practices


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field of study, or commensurate experience

  • 2+ years of experience developing Java-based software applications.

  • Diagnose system level issues to the appropriate component level, and then to debug and provide defect resolution.

  • Experience with Java EE technologies

  • Experience with current open source frameworks (Hibernate, Spring).

  • Experience database technologies, application containers and webservices.

  • Use and understand the purpose and use of development tools used for a specific project and how to get the most out of the tools.

  • Candidates with less experience may be hired at a lower job grade or salary.

  • US Citizen or lawful permanent resident with three or more years of US residency
