About the Role:

Associate volunteerism and fundraising has been an integral part of UMB’s business throughout our 100+ year history. This position serves as the liaison between associates and community volunteerism/donation opportunities, along with certain inclusion and diversity initiatives. This person will facilitate and coordinate associate volunteer activities, internal giving campaigns, program maintenance, reporting, and various event planning needs. As a champion for these giving programs, the person in this role will capture stories and images, assist in providing statistics, promote the matching gift program, and design creative opportunities for associate engagement.

The Specialist will also assist in supporting UMB’s Business Resource Groups, particularly in their volunteer and community engagement efforts. To be successful, this person should have a sincere passion for inclusion, diversity and impacting communities, have an acute attention to detail, and be skilled in event and project management. The Specialist will build strong relationships across UMB’s business and in the communities UMB serves. This person will report to and regularly collaborate with the Director of Talent Inclusion, Diversity & Acquisition.

A day in the life:

  • Serve as first point of contact for questions and administrative support regarding associate giving and events

  • Assist in the promotion, tracking and administration of UMB’s volunteerism and matching gift programs

  • Coordinate internal story-telling and communications with Internal Communications team

  • Plan annual associate-driven fundraising events and campaigns

  • Collaborate with community roles in other departments to ensure alignment of efforts

  • Promote inclusion and diversity across volunteer and fundraising activities

  • Improve processes and resolve problems to promote volunteer/giving engagement and effectiveness

  • Manage volunteer/donation database reports and approvals, along with processing giving expenses

  • Distribute volunteer shirts and supplies to associate volunteers as needed

  • Fulfill volunteer requests from nonprofit organizations

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

MINIMUM:

  • Experience with planning events, community involvement, and data analytics

  • A sincere passion for volunteerism and impacting communities

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring success in maintaining records, interpreting data, and database management

  • A sense of initiative and ability to multi-task and manage deadlines

  • Ability to learn and use a variety of software, tools and systems necessary to meet business needs

Requirements

MINIMUM:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Human Resources, Community Relations or equivalent job

  • A four-year degree or qualifying experience

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work arrangement

  • Occasional need to attend offsite volunteer events
