The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is looking for a Cloud Solution Java Software Architect with exceptional cloud experience for a portfolio of multi-phase software development efforts. You will work under the guidance of the Principal Solution Architect in defining and implementing architectural standards including design, mentoring, and implementing next-generation cloud infrastructure. You will focus on automation using Infrastructure as Code (IAC) and CI/CD principles, along with experience and an understanding of the offerings within AWS with an emphasis on security. You accomplish this by direct contribution, by influencing other teams, and training members of the engineering teams to prepare them for current or future lead positions.
Contribute to the planning, definition, and development of the Platform Systems Architecture and Technical Roadmap by performing spikes, POCs, and exploration of solution alternatives within specified cost and security constraints.
Champion the implementation of the Technical Roadmap with the engineering teams and other stakeholders.
Create technical stories in the appropriate product backlogs necessary to implement the Technical Roadmap. Work with Product Owners and engineering team leadership to ensure these technical stories are sized, meet the "Definition of Ready" and are prioritized to deliver maximum value to the customer.
Work in a diverse matrixed organization, providing implementation, direction and oversight to planned technical activities.
Mentor members on using and administering technologies in the AWS environment, ensuring teams can identify issues, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with other teams and stakeholders.
Write code to prove concepts or to jumpstart patterns.
Present new technical knowledge to the team.
Work with business and technical management, providing technical consulting, strategy, and direction for applications.
7 years development experience in enterprise-level applications using Java (Spring) including a combination of the following:
Experience with AWS cloud, CICD automation and infrastructure as Code
Experience working as Software / Application Architect or comparable experience in a Senior or Leadership technical role.
Experience with application technologies focused on Java and open-source frameworks like Spring (Core, Security, Data / JPA, Boot, Batch, Integration, LDAP), and Hibernate.
Hands-on experience with Networking, Compute, storage, Database and Security (IAM)
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python, PowerShell)
Knowledge of security frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST 800-53 a plus
Experience designing, deploying, and supporting production cloud environments
Experience designing and deploying secured, fault-tolerant, reliable, and dynamically scalable applications on AWS
Hands-on experience implementing a hybrid, complex and multi-tiered architecture using AWS Direct Connect
Experienced with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Design automated deployment (CI/CD) of enterprise grade applications to AWS
