What Is the Opportunity?
In this role you will design, develop, and maintain the insurance products that support strategic objectives and operations of the Private & Non-Profit, Public Company, Financial Institution, and Professional Services business units within Specialty Insurance (SI). You will work in collaboration with claim, legal, marketing, product managers, translation, and underwriting leadership, as well as with IT to ensure the successful launch of platform-based product components. You will contribute to the creation of training, marketing materials, and underwriting guidelines in support of the range of Specialty Insurance products: Management Liability (e.g., directors and officers, employment practices, fiduciary liability, etc.), Professional Liability (e.g., accountants, architects, miscellaneous professional liability, etc.), Crime/Fidelity (e.g., commercial crime, financial institution bonds) or other first party expense coverage (e.g., cyber, kidnap ransom, etc.).
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manage and drive product consistency and quality, with a customer-focus.
Design, develop, and maintain Specialty Insurance products (policy forms and accompanying applications and endorsement libraries) in alignment with enterprise style guides and evolving actuarial and marketplace dynamics.
Convert strong writing skills, coupled with a good understanding of coverage concepts and policy contract framework, into sound policy form drafting.
Apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to seek creative solutions to insurance coverage issues or internal processes for sound business results.
Articulate difficult business and insurance coverage concepts clearly.
Lead and collaborate with business unit customers (i.e., underwriting/production groups) and other key partners (e.g., claims, IT, legal, marketing, etc.) to bring projects and initiatives to successful completion.
Identify internal and external product trends, opportunities, and emerging issues, and communicate to business unit customers on such matters.
- 4 or more years of established work experience, preferably in insurance underwriting or product management, or equivalent experience.
Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
Bachelors degree or higher level of education.
5 or more years of Specialty lines commercial insurance underwriting, claims, legal, or other relevant experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Understanding of specialty lines coverage concepts and policy contract framework.
Strong computer and document management skills (Word, Quadient, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
French language skills not required but would be an asset.
