Strategic Consultant- Strategic Planning & Delivery (SP&D)
Hybrid: Springfield/Boston
The Opportunity
The Operations and Portfolio Insights team plays a critical role within the Strategic Planning & Delivery department (SP&D) as they are responsible for reviewing, developing, and implementing operational governance for SP&D’s portfolio of initiatives that support MassMutual’s short- and long-term goals. Each Strategic Consultant is responsible for the data reporting and analysis at the portfolio and business level to support decision making and ensure our teams on our track to deliver on our goals.

The Impact:
As Strategic Consultant, you will develop relationships with Workstream Leads, Initiative Owners and key stakeholders across the organization at all levels, to operationalize business strategy, manage the data and insights across the SP&D portfolio. Your analysis will support the programs, projects and operational components that deliver associated benefits and help meet the organization’s financial and long-term strategic objectives.
With this important role comes key accountabilities and responsibilities which include and are not limited to:
Identify opportunities and suggest implementable ways to improve processes/operations, standardize portfolio governance, and drive decisions to support MassMutual’s strategic goals
Provide data analysis, reporting, and visuals to support the Head of SP&D, SteerCo, Workstream Leads and the SLT in decision making
Partner with Wave team and stakeholders to ensure optimized user experience, reporting, processes, and data management
Review and analyze execution risk of portfolio by reporting on financial and execution metrics including initiative milestone progress and changes to forecast
Provide analysis to Workstream Lead outlining initiatives that are ahead and/or behind schedule
Gather, analyze, and package data to prepare the Workstream Lead with facilitating huddles, Workstream meetings, and/or prioritization and sequencing problem-solving sessions
Escalate issues, concerns, roadblocks as appropriate
Partner with SP&D Communications to identify training needs and develop training materials to enable Initiative Owners to work independently including education on SP&D’s processes
The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Business Management, Strategic Operations, Finance or related field
5+ years’ experience with management reporting and analysis using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
2+ years’ experience of relevant work experience as a strategic consultant, data analyst, business analyst or similar role
1+ year’s experience creating dashboards and using other data visualization tools
Ideal Qualifications
Skilled in collecting and analyzing data, assessing problems and providing solutions
Strong people skills with the ability to build relationships and demonstrate collaborative problem-solving
Strong time management and ability to deliver on tight deadlines
MBA or 3+ years of work experience as a strategic consultant or data analyst
Familiarity with insurance products and distribution
Experience managing stakeholder-facing platforms and/or data management tools
Strong financial acumen

Salary Range: $92,800.00-$121,800.00
