Position Summary

The Senior UX Designer contributes to solving complex business challenges while being an advocate for users, leveraging experience with user-centered design processes. The Senior UX Designer is essential to ensuring product success and end-user satisfaction and an integral part of disciplined agile and lean software practices aimed at transforming healthcare and pharmacy.

The Senior UX Designer position is responsible for making informed decisions for product development as part of a cross-functional product team. A firm understanding of user-centered design principles and user research methodologies is crucial for success in the role. You will help educate both business and technology teams on human-centered design process and how the traditional UX role changes, as well as help lead products from discovery research through iterative delivery. 

The foundational characteristics of the Senior UX Designer include empathy, creative problem-solving, comfort with uncertainty, collaboration, iteration, communication skills, excellent technical design skills, and curiosity.

Candidates must be able to work in a hybrid model that will depend on product specific requirements, e.g. product teams may convene in-person for iteration planning cycles as well as other product development activities.Key responsibilities of the Lead UX Designer include:

  • Solve the right problem through the understanding of user needs in order to deliver new or improved products and services

  • “Full-stack” designer: assist with all dimensions of design – research, usability evaluation, information architecture, wireframes, visual, CSS and HTML – it’s ok not be an expert in all, as long as you are open and want to learn

  • Work with cross-functional teams – other designers, product managers, and product engineers

  • Stay up-to-date on UX/UI design industry best practices and trends

Additional responsibilities of the Lead UX Product Designer include:

  • Produce sketches, user flows, wireframes and visual designs that clearly illustrate the customer journey

  • Participate in gathering insights, determining solutions and delivering designs, e.g. iterative discovery and solution processes to help senior team members define, design and deliver solutions. Activities may include:

  • Participating in design discussions and workshops with key stakeholders to envision and implement customer experiences that meet or exceed customer expectations

  • Engaging with research, optimization, and analytics teams when appropriate to inform, validate design decisions and drive continuous improvement to experiences

  • Visualizing the value of innovative and simple design concepts to demonstrate how they support CVS's mission and vision

  • Create prototypes for usability testing and work with senior team members to define customer personas and user flows

  • Collaborate with Accessibility, Content and UX Research team members to deliver experience design features using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology

  • Monitor experience design trends and best practices across industries to implement appropriate processes at CVS

  • Participate in internal team activities that strengthen the culture across the organization

  • Maintain an understanding of the CVS Digital UI Toolkit, Brand Guidelines and Accessibility Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ professional experience as a UX Architect, UX Designer, or Product Designer role

  • 2+ years’ experience in at least one of the 3 design pillars: user research, interaction design or visual design

  • 1+ years of working effectively with Agile and lean philosophies 

  • 1+ years’ experience working independently with clients or stakeholder and designing business or enterprise applications

  • 1+ years’ experience executing user-centered design methodologies by leading product design decisions from research through implementation

  • decisions from research through implementation

  • 1+ years’ experience working in design and prototyping software tools such as Figma, Sketch, Axure and InVision

  • 1+ year of experience with modern front-end technologies and open source frameworks (e.g. Material Design, HTML/CSS, grid systems, responsive design)

Preferred Qualifications • Experience with UX design advocacy within large business and technology organizations• Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills along with a strong work ethic• Ability to rapidly prototype• Willingness to present on design topics internally• Knowledge of the pharmacy and healthcare industries• Knowledge of cloud-based technology platforms Education

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree considered.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
