The Team: You will be working in the E&P Terms and Above-Ground Risk team, an industry-leading provider of analysis on above-ground issues affecting the hydrocarbon sector. We are dedicated to providing oil and gas companies and governments with actionable insights to inform upstream investment decisions, portfolio choices and policymaking. You will also collaborate extensively with geologists, consultants and colleagues involved in decarbonization.

The Impact: Support oil and gas companies, governments and financial investors in making critical business decisions, assessing above-ground risks, and adapting to a low-carbon world.

Responsibilities: Are you an analytical thinker who knows the Asia Pacific region? Do you enjoy delivering actionable insight to companies and governments?

We’re seeking a highly motivated individual to:

  • Lead forward-looking analysis on the above-ground risk environment for the hydrocarbon industry in the Asia-Pacific region via written analysis, profiles and periodic publications

  • Act as the point person for insight on the upstream investment environment in key APAC states

  • Oversee and review analysis on regional developments from more junior colleagues and peers

  • Engage with clients on these topics through presentations and discussions

  • Collaborate with other teams to build integrated research

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in politics, political economy, energy policy or similar area (graduate degree preferred)

  • Minimum of 7 years of directly relevant experience, traditionally acquired by working in industry, government, or consulting. Any equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Prior experience producing high-quality research and analyzing Asian and/or Australasian political economy and risk

  • Strong critical thinking and the ability to leverage qualitative and quantitative information

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills in English

  • Effective time management and a detail-oriented approach

  • Proficiency with MS applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Must be flexible, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with coworkers of different levels of experience and background and in different locations around the world.

  • Familiarity with the upstream oil and gas industry preferred

  • Relevant language skills a plus.
