Atrium Health Home Medical Equipment Technician II, Atrium Health, FT Days in Shelby, North Carolina

Job Summary

Interacts with case managers, patients, family members and caregivers in the process of issuing and fitting home medical equipment. Participates in the prequalifying processes for certain therapies and communicating information to the intake department, case managers and physician offices. Assumes responsibility for product delivery and teaching all facets of use and care, transport, inventory control, paperwork, and documentation.

Essential Functions

  • Performs delivery, setup, education and sizing of equipment to patients in various hospitals, physicians offices, home office or patients home.

  • Obtains, secures, and transfers all pertinent documentation prior to delivery of equipment.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair of equipment.

  • Maintains off site inventories.

  • Orders, stocks and logs equipment from vendors and suppliers.

  • Performs cleaning and testing of returned equipment per policy.

Physical Requirements

Requires lifting up 100 pounds. Requires walking, sitting and standing. Based on the physical requirements for this position all applicants for this position are required to undergo a physical ability test as a condition of employment.

Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Knowledge of inventory control required. Current, valid drivers license and auto insurance required. Past experience working with patients and home medical equipment preferred. Excellent communication skills and customer service abilities required. General computer knowledge preferred.
