The successful candidate should be able to perform thorough history and physical assessment, general periop and postoperative management. Also, be able to evaluate, assess, implement plans and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to surgical illness or injury. The candidate will serve both on the inpatient surgical service and in the outpatient clinic.

Position Description:
Work alongside General Surgeons, while communicating with practice as needed regarding patients care needs.
Cover the general and acute care surgery inpatient service and outpatient clinic. Shifts will be on weekdays with the possibility of weekends.
Assist in the OR with traditional, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery cases and perform minor surgical procedures. On the job training will be provided.
Help teach APP students.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions. Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS preferred.
Nurse Practitioner : Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. Acute Care board certification _ required based upon population and acuity served._
Physician Assistant : Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
