SUNY Suffolk is searching for three (3) full-time, 10-month tenure-track faculty Instructor/Assistant Professors for Nursing beginning in the Spring 2025, at the Ammerman Campus in Selden, NY and the Michael J. Grant campus in Brentwood, NY. SUNY Suffolk is a comprehensive community college committed to open access, equity, and student success, and candidates for faculty positions should be prepared to demonstrate their commitment to these values. Faculty are scheduled to teach based on the needs of students and their department, and may have the option to teach in different course preps in more than one modality.

Position Description:

Planning and delivering high-quality student-centered instruction appropriate to an open-access community college. Participating in curricular development, assessment, and revision at the course, discipline, and program levels, including assessment of student learning outcomes. Engaging in assessment of college-wide learning outcomes and demonstrating the use of the results of these assessments in courses. Ensuring that principles of equity and inclusion are integrated in curriculum and instructional practice. Ensuring that student knowledge, skills and abilities are aligned with current academic and workforce best practices. Incorporating engaging and appropriate academic technology into all modes of instructional delivery. Maintaining a commitment to ongoing and research-based professional development in pedagogy and subject matter. Teaching assigned courses in accordance with description published in the College catalog and the approved course outline. Providing academic advising and actively participating in college-wide recruitment, student engagement and retention strategies (e.g. early alerts). Scheduling required time to meet with students outside of class. Actively participating in departmental, campus and college committees/meetings. Participating actively in the life of their department, campus, and the college. Fulfilling all contractual requirements related to faculty. Other duties as assigned. Minimum

Master of Science degree in Nursing Current New York State Registered Nurse license Minimum of three (3) years work experience as a registered nurse or in advanced practice nursing.

Preferred

Master of Science with a concentration or certificate in nursing education. Recent nursing work experience in acute care. Teaching experience in a nursing program that qualifies graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN. Teaching experience in face-to-face didactic modality. Teaching experience in clinical and/or clinical simulation. Evidence of course development in a learning management system. Familiarity with a learning management system and/or willingness to use the college’s LMS (i.e. Brightspace).
