Position Summary:
Work together with other sourcing team members to drive cost savings projects while maintaining the quality that Ingersoll Rand requires. Respond quickly to supply chain issues that could result in supply gaps and production line down situations to solve the problem. Communicate well with the materials, production, and scheduling team when supply gaps do occur to ensure the customer remains updated on the status of their order. Continuously look for ways to improve our supply chain by reducing lead times, lower purchase price, improve payment terms, and dual source where feasible.
Essential Functions:
Resolves internal and external technical issues with suppliers and product of suppliers
Work with suppliers to mitigate supply gaps that could cause production line down situations
Send out RFQ’s to potential new suppliers when resourcing is necessary
Communicates effectively by phone and email with detailed problem descriptions
Performs root cause analysis
Interacts with internal and external personnel in quality, design and manufacturing groups.
Obtains and reacts to feedback provided from internal machining and assembly operations leads
Coordinate design changes to promote manufacturability
Support Sourcing Engineers and Commodity Managers
Analyzes data to determine best methods to improve cost, quality, and delivery
Purchases and assists in management, placement and repair of tooling at various suppliers around the world
Project management: manage budgets, spend money effectively and drive suppliers to obtain end goal
Hold various sourcing projects simultaneously: manage sample part projects cradle to grave (determine our needs, determine viable sources, obtain quotes, compare quotes, direct purchase of tools and samples, drive suppliers, inspect samples, obtain and communicate feedback, establish confidence and release parts to production
Assist supplier development team to improve performance of struggling suppliers
Find and setup new suppliers for unique needs
Learn about various internal and external manufacturing processes
Qualifications:
Pursuing a degree in Engineering, business or a related field. knowledge of basic Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Outlook, Word).
