Starbucks Coffee Company senior accountant, China Asia Pacific Accounting – Seattle WA in Seattle, Washington

Summary of Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred

  • 5+ years relevant experience, including experience at a multi-national company

  • Prior public accounting experience preferred

  • Specialization (2 years) in either corporate financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, consolidations accounting, foreign exchange accounting, or SEC accounting

  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin or Japanese or Korean (oral and written) preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, international accounting standards, and internal sox business controls

  • Ability to assess business processes and implement improvements and controls

  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively in a fast paced environment, while exhibiting exceptional attention to detail and continuously driving process improvements.

  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to think outside the box.

  • Project management skills, using analytical abilities and sensible approaches.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate financial results to individuals at various levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner

  • Strong financial analysis skills including conceptual understanding of rate/volume impacts

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

  • Experience with new accounting system implementations or existing systems enhancements.

  • Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Oracle and Hyperion) preferred.

  • Ability to build relationships and influence others in order to achieve successful outcome in cross-functional projects and activities

  • Flexibility to conduct conference calls in the evening to support partners in Asia
