Proctors Collaborative Cafe Counter Staff - Per Diem in Schenectady, New York

Proctors Collaborative is the Capital District’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement and economic development initiatives throughout the region. We’re changing expectations about how the arts serve a community.

Proctors is seeking per diem staff for our Café Counter on performance days and evenings. Hours will fluctuate but be known well in advance. The café will serve prepared, light offerings and hot and cold beverages.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Understand food service industry guidelines to maintain freshness and quality control.

· Prepare food orders accurately, neatly, and promptly.

· Follow recipes accurately and according to established, approved, and communicated guidelines.

· Maintain correct portions, weights, and consistent food levels for freshness.

· Follow Café cleaning and sanitation standards and proper food handling procedures.

· Understand the Point of Sale system and reconcile money accurately with each transaction and at the end of the shift.

· Provide exceptional, friendly, and prompt and accurate customer service to each guest and all customers.

· Engage in constructive dialog with management and other cafe workers in discussion of best practices in all aspects of the cafe work flow. Provide well thought and reasoned feedback both during and after shifts.

· Ability to accurately follow established Company policies and procedures.

· Adhere to proper safety standards when handing equipment, preparing food, and working with others.

· Other duties as requested by Manager or a representative designated by Manager.

· Willingness to cross train in all areas of kitchen and catering including food prep, beverages, and retail.

· Respectful, personable, polite, trustworthy, motivated, and conscientious.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 25 pounds, and carry trays of food and beverages.
