Roles and responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and control activities and resources associated with service delivery.

  • Provide effective employment planning for clients presenting with complex disability and employment issues.

  • Assess client motivation to work and disability-related employment barriers, providing supportive measures to ensure individual success.

  • Develop and monitor employment plans detailing steps the client needs to achieve their vocational goal.

  • Monitor and document client progress, intervening where appropriate to ensure viable and appropriate client/employer matches.

  • Negotiate employment opportunities with employers and arrange wage subsidies as needed.

  • Provide follow-up supports to employers, including regular check-ins and necessary support, such as accommodation support, to ensure desired outcomes for both employer and client.

  • Participate in marketing and promotional activities associated with employer and client recruitment.

  • Participate in developing the job search training program.

  • Instruct in pre-employment programming sessions, including resume creation, cover letters, and reporting to funders.

  • Adjust presentation materials based on client needs.

  • Help the Vocational Team assess client motivation based on participation in training.

  • Measure client progress and provide timely feedback on skills learned, areas of success, and specific action recommendations to enable further understanding.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or 3-year Diploma in a related field.

  • Experience in job development, employer outreach, marketing, and customer relationship management; reputable experience in recruitment and screening.

  • Knowledge of government and local employment systems for employment supports for persons with disabilities; knowledge of private sector and labor market trends.

  • Sensitivity to issues/barriers that people with disabilities experience.

  • Well-developed time management, problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills.

  • Effective negotiation skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, sales, and customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work well under pressure.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software.

  • Ability to document, maintain records, and assist in reports.

  • Ability to communicate in both official languages considered an asset.
