National Grid Field Helper-Temporary in Saranac Lake, New York

About the Position :

National Grid is seeking a Temporary Field Helpers at our Saranac Lake location, at the starting hourly pay rate of $25.43. We are a major electricity and gas delivery company with one of the largest electricity transmission and distribution systems in the Northeast. Temporary Field Helpers will be expected to assist various crew operations in the field. Routine duties would include flagging at construction sites.

Responsibilities will be:

Perform assorted manual labor tasks associated with the construction sites and other similar activities.

Ability to use hand tools.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent; AAS in Electrical Construction or equivalent electrical apprentice prefered.

  • Line school certificate required

  • Must pass pre-employment validated company test(s).

  • Should have aptitude for mechanical work.

  • Must be able to work in the outdoors and inclement weather.

  • Must be able to walk over uneven terrain.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • CDL A is preferred

Salary:

  • Hourly/$25.43

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
